51 Palestinians Killed in 24 Hours as Israel Strikes Aid Seekers in Gaza

Gaza: At least 51 Palestinians have been killed and 503 more wounded in the past 24 hours as Israeli forces launched a series of attacks across the Gaza Strip, according to the territory’s Health Ministry. Among the dead were at least 31 Palestinians who had gathered near food distribution points run by the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), sparking global condemnation from United Nations officials and international aid organizations.

The attacks, which targeted some of Gaza’s most desperate and hungry civilians, unfolded as people waited for basic supplies at GHF aid stations. UN agencies and humanitarian groups denounced the killings, calling them an outrageous violation of international law and a brutal blow to a population already on the brink of starvation.

Meanwhile, Egypt and Qatar have announced renewed diplomatic efforts to push forward a ceasefire based on a United States-backed proposal. The plan includes a 60-day truce and the opening of humanitarian corridors for food, water, and medical supplies—relief that is now urgently needed more than ever.

Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza, which began following the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023, has now killed at least 54,470 Palestinians and wounded 124,693, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The Government Media Office, however, reports a higher death toll exceeding 61,700, citing thousands still missing under the rubble and presumed dead.

The war began when Hamas fighters crossed into southern Israel, killing an estimated 1,139 people and taking over 200 hostages. Since then, Gaza has endured near-total devastation under Israeli bombardment, compounded by siege conditions that have crippled access to food, clean water, and healthcare.

As the casualty numbers rise and the humanitarian situation worsens, calls for an immediate ceasefire grow louder. But despite mounting pressure and diplomatic mediation, the violence continues to spiral, and the people of Gaza remain caught in the crossfire, with even the act of seeking food now marked by deadly risk.
